Big hART Residency
13 - 24 May 2024
Where
The Vault is an open space for events and experiments at Dairy Road. Known as Building 8, it is between car parks P4 & P3.
Big hART's Skate of Mind is taking up residence at The Vault Dairy Road in May, developing a cross-medium exploration of image, sound and movement created through live skateboarding. Skate of Mind takes Australia’s best skateboarders to regional and remote communities around Australia, generating unique environmental content and celebrating the positive mental health benefits of skateboarding for individuals and communities.
13 -24 May
Young people are invited to skate The Vault, 7pm Saturday 18th May to explore the nexus between skateboarding, animated image, music and environmentally threatened locations. Pop-up events will engage young people across Canberra skateparks and other locations, plus this free open skate session for the Canberra community to experience the work in development at The Vault.
Friday 24 May
Big hART will be rehearsing and delivering their live show Tjaabi–Flood Country at the Vault on May 24. Tjaabi–Flood Country is a contemporary intercultural music and theatre performance led by Ngarluma man Patrick Churnside brought to you by Big hART @bighart_online. Using breathtaking music, personal narrative and clever humour Tjaabi–Flood Country captures the urgency of climate change and ecological pressures facing Aboriginal people in places like the Pilbara.
